A monthly for the new world

China is one of the most interesting places in the world, and the recent economic and geopolitical developments indicate that it will only become more interesting. The international attention for this part of the world seems to grow every day.
This magazine tries to look at China from within, but from an outsider’s point of view. The editors all share two things: a passion for China in all it’s facets and a general feeling that international coverage of China, both journalistic and academic, does not represent the reality of every day life on the streets of this immense country.
This magazine will try to offer a personal account of China, it’s changing society and the underlying processes. The editors are all fluent in Mandarin. Everyone who writes for this magazine will have an original view on Chinese reality, which by no means equals any other form of reality.
The goal of this magazine is to reflect our views, our experiences in this country. Moreover, the reader will not find news headlines or political activism in our articles, but a more sociological approach. Our ambition is not necessarily to understand China, but to try to find out why ‘we’ as outsiders will never completely understand it.
